LONGSHOT LADY BECOMES TRICK HORSE PERFORMER For 13 years, Denise Boudrot from Burlington, Massachusetts rode the thoroughbred race horse circuit winning over one thousand races. She earned the nickname Longshot Lady and became the first female jockey to cop a major race track riding title. Retiring in 1985 she settled down to a simpler and safer life marrying a newspaper publisher who also owned a string of race horses. (She had won over 50 races for him). The equine attraction never escaped her blood, however, and soon she was back in the saddle, this time Western and winning ribbons on show horses. After filling too many walls with ribbons, she decided there had to be something else to do that was fun. Enter Carole Fletcher, internationally renowned performer and trainer, who trained Denise’s former show quarter horse to be a trick horse, under the stage name of Cleve Kadiddlehopper. Denise too, proved to be Carole’s star pupil, a quick study, who as a jockey was used to being in front of audiences of thousands. Appropriately, Carole tailor-made a comedy act for Denise, titled the Reluctant Racehorse—something Denise was very familiar with! Superstar Cleve Kadiddlehopper has over twenty five tricks in his repertoire and is having fun hamming it up for audiences. Among his tricks, he sits on a bean bag chair and bucks on command. The latter, earned him a professional TV appearance on a GEICO commercial. Denise and Cleve are performing at fairs, racetracks, horse shows, hunt clubs, equine trade shows and private parties up and down the eastern seaboard. They thrill every crowd they perform for.
